In September 1991, a group of skinheads attacks a foreign worker's hostel in Germany. The same night, a neo-Nazi leader is shot and killed. Michael Rosenzweig is the primary murder suspect. His brother Jacob (played by Benjamin Sadler), a young attorney, takes on his defense. Two Jewish brothers must fight the growing wave of extreme rightist violence in Germany. Although fiction, Liliane Targownik's Rosenzweig's Freedom deals with an authentic domestic social situation in contemporary Germany, in the shadow of a violent past.
