Two filmmakers share excerpts from their documentary film projects which they are currently working to complete. Once again, go behind the scenes as we discuss the specific issues involved in filmmaking, this time with a special emphasis on the historical-biographical film. Both projects deal with influential 20 th century figures who brought their distinct Jewish identities to the American cultural and political mainstream, thereby altering our notions of what it means to be Jewish and American. Aviva Kempner in Gertrude Berg: America's Molly Goldberg looks at the life and career of Gertrude Berg, the creator, writer and star of The Goldbergs , a popular 1930s radio show that was subsequently a weekly TV program. Steve Brand brings his work-in-progress Praying With My Legs: Abraham Joshua Heschel about one of the most widely respected religious thinkers of the 20 th century.
