In conjunction with the Washington, DC premiere of Voyages, this year we bring back director Emmanuel Finkiel's film, Madame Jacques sur la Croisette (WJFF, 1995.) The film focuses upon an annual spring retreat in Cannes where a group of elderly French Jews reflect on aging, loving later in life and their underlying bond of Yiddish culture. Breaking away from the group and its monotonous rhythm, widower Maurice searches for love with Madame Jacques. Despite her civilized past and the gossip of their friends, Maurice and Madame Jacques come together to share aging after the hardships of life. Co-sponsored by the Embassy of France, and the Alliance Française de Washington DC
