Winner of the Best Documentary Award at the Jerusalem International Film Festival, Sisai follows the life of a young Ethiopian immigrant in . Director David Gavro, Sisai’s adoptive brother, films the emotional and physical journey Sisai takes as he learns he has a biological father still living in Ethiopia. The reunion is captured beautifully and is even more poignant with the presence of Gavro and his father, as they revisit the land the family once called home. With the impending birth of Sisai’s first child as the frame for his struggle to accept his birth father’s absence, the journey becomes not just one of reunion, but of maturation.
