How do I buy ADVANCE tickets for the Festival?
Visit the Ticket
Information section of our Web site for complete details.
Advance tickets
are recommended, as most screenings will sell out. Advance tickets go on
sale to DCJCC members and WJFF donors on November 15 and 16 and to the general
public on November 18. On advance ticket purchases, there is a $0.50
handling fee per film.
ADVANCE tickets are
sold exclusively through our ticketing vendor, BoxOfficeTickets.com
and CANNOT be purchased at theater venue locations. (Theater venue locations
sell same-day tickets for that specific theater only.) BoxOfficeTickets.com
sells advance tickets by phone, TDD, and online.
Please note that advance
tickets for WJFF screenings at The Lincoln Theatre and Loews Cineplex 4000
Wisconsin will NOT be available through their respective box offices, nor
through the automated phone and Web-based ticketing systems that are normally
used by these venues, such as Ticketmaster.com, MovieFone.com, 202-333-FILM,
or Fandango.com
TICKET PICKUP: Advance
tickets will be mailed to you if purchased at least 7 days in advance;
otherwise they will be held for pickup at the Will Call tables of the specific
theater where the screening is being held. To pick up your tickets at
Will Call, you will need to bring your photo ID and the exact credit
card that you used to make your purchase. Only the person whose name is
on the order will be able to pick up the tickets.

until 2:00 pm on the day of the screening (for evening screenings),
except for Sunday screenings, which must be ordered in advance. (If you

What happens if a film I really want to go to is sold out on advance sales?
When a film sells out
on advance sales, a limited number of tickets may be released for sale at
the theater box office just before the sold-out screening is scheduled
to begin.
Please note that box
offices generally open one hour before the first screening of the
day and REMAIN open. For extremely popular films, the ticket line
will form earlier than that.
When a film sells out,
we will create a first-come, first-served standby line adjacent to
the box office. In some cases, when VIPs, press, and filmmakers are not
able to attend a designated screening when a seat has been reserved for
them, we will be able to release some of these seats for sale to individuals
who are waiting in the standby line. This will happen very close to the
time the screening begins, because the availability of the seat cannot be
determined until the very last minute. If you wish to wait in the standby
line for such sold-out screenings, please note that seating cannot be guaranteed,
and you will lose your place if you are not in the standby line at the time
the next seat is released for sale.

Aaron and Cecile
Goldman Theater, DCJCC
Weekdays, the Aaron and Cecile Goldman Theater Box Office opens one
hour prior to the first daytime screening and then re-opens one hour prior
to the first evening screening. Weekends, the box office opens one
hour prior to the first screening of the day and remains open.
The Lincoln Theatre
The WJFF box office at The Lincoln Theatre sells tickets for our Opening
and Closing Night films on the day of the screening only, beginning at 10
am. The Lincoln Theatre box office accepts cash or check only, no credit
cards will be accepted. Tickets for WJFF screenings at The Lincoln Theatre
are NOT available through the automated phone and Web-based ticketing
systems that are normally used by this venue, such as Ticketmaster.com.

Loews Cineplex 4000
Wisconsin Ave NW
The WJFF box office opens one hour prior to the first WJFF screening of
the day and remains open. Please note that tickets for WJFF screenings at
Loews Cineplex 4000 Wisconsin will NOT be available through the Loews
Cineplex box office, nor through the automated phone and Web-based ticketing
systems that are normally used by Loews Cineplex, such as MovieFone.com,

National Museum of
Women in the Arts
Same-day tickets available at the Box Office in the lobby of the Museum

Once We Grow Up, screens
at The Lincoln Theatre Sunday, December 9, 2001 at 7:00 pm with wine
and music following, at the theater. Tickets for the Closing Night film
with wine and music are $20.

for our Closing Night film ONCE
WE GROW UP, on Sunday December 9, are now available at all venues
during regular box office hours. (In-person sales only. Advance telephone

For both the Opening
and Closing Night films, the reception is part of the ticket and it is NOT

What about parking and transportation?

Street parking
is extremely difficult to find in the DC neighborhoods where our theater
venues are located, and you are advised to leave plenty of time to find
parking before your screening.
Valet parking
is available at The Lincoln Theatre (Opening and Closing Night films) for
a $6 fee.
Limited parking will be available for the disabled in the DCJCC's Q
Street parking lot.
The closest commercial
garages for DCJCC screenings are at 1622 P St NW and 1500 Massachusetts
Ave NW. Please note these garages' closing times. For additional, complete

Discounted parking
for screenings at 4000 Wisconsin Ave NW is available at the garage
located on Upton Street NW. Cost is $1.00 for 3 hours' parking. Must bring
ticket to the theater to be validated.
There is limited
metered street parking for our screenings at the National
Museum of Women in the Arts and the US
Holocaust Memorial Museum.

All of our theater venues are Metro-accessible. For information about Metrorail

The DCJCC's free shuttle
between the Dupont Circle Metro (Q Street Exit) and the DCJCC will have
extended hours during the week of the Festival! Look for the white DCJCC
van waiting outside the Q Street exit at the northwest corner of 20th and
Q Streets. The shuttle runs approximately every 15 minutes. The schedule
is as follows: Saturday 6 pm - 11:45 pm; Sunday 12 noon -11:45 pm; Monday
through Thursday 5 - 11:45 pm; Friday 11 am - 2pm.

Why do I have to stand in line?
The reason we have our
festival guests wait in line before each show is to assure that the theater
staff has an opportunity to clear out the theater from the previous show.
When there is a special guest, the Question and Answer period occasionally
can run longer than we originally predicted.
Standing in line is
a fun way to meet new people while you are waiting. Who knows - you might
just make a new friend! Waiting in line is part of the thrill of a Film
Festival!

Will food be available at the Festival?
The JCC
Café serves a (meat) menu of kosher selections in the Q Street
lobby of the DCJCC and will be open during its normal operating hours throughout
the Festival. Normal
concession stands will also be operated at our other theater venues during
the Festival.
Please note that food
and drink are not permitted in the DCJCC's Aaron and Cecile Goldman Theater.
The DCJCC is a kosher
facility, and Jewish dietary law is observed. All food brought into
the Center from outside must be dairy/vegetarian. Please do not bring any
meat or fish into the Center.

Yes, we do. The

How early do I have to show up for my film? What items are not permitted in
theaters?
- All purses and bags
will be subject to inspection prior to your admittance to theaters. Large
bags, briefcases, backpacks, shopping bags, etc. will not be permitted
inside theaters. PLEASE DO NOT BRING SUCH ITEMS WITH YOU.
- You will be required
to present a photo ID and the exact credit card that you used for your purchase
in order to pick up your tickets at Will Call.
- Please arrive early
for your screening, and be sure to allow sufficient extra time for security
checks. Films will start on time, as listed in the program.
- Please hold onto your
ticket stub, as you will not be permitted to re-enter the theater without
it if you leave during your screening.

I am a filmmaker. How do I submit my film for consideration for the Festival?
The Washington Jewish
Film Festival: An Exhibition of International Cinema welcomes
and invites submissions. There is no submission fee. In January, 2002, we
will begin considering films for the 2002 Washington Jewish Film Festival.
The deadline for submissions is July 1, 2002. If interested, please
download the Submission Form (available on our website in the near future)
and send the completed form, a VHS (NTSC or PAL) preview cassette

What sorts of films are you looking for?
The Washington Jewish
Film Festival: An Exhibition of International Cinema is a
celebration of Jewish culture, films and filmmakers, as well as the richness
of the Jewish Experience. We strive to present a rich cinematic mixture,
thus we welcome the submission of features, short works, documentaries,
experimental and animated films.

Can I submit in any format?
Preview tapes submitted
for consideration can be either in PAL or NTSC VHS formats. Films
chosen for exhibition must be in 35mm, 16mm, Betacam-SP or NTSC video formats.
We cannot project DigiBeta format films. The Festival can arrange for a
transfer from PAL for a fee.

In what format should I submit my press materials?
Press materials should
consist of a full list of production credits including bios of key personnel,
a complete list of festivals film has been in, prizes or honors received
and images from the film. These materials can be submitted either on paper,
via e-mail, or on a mailed diskette (IBM/Windows format only; Macintosh
diskettes and files CANNOT be accepted). Images sent electronically can
be sent to [email protected]
- these files MUST BE COMPRESSED and must be less than 1.0 Mb in size. We
have additional requirements regarding acceptability of certain electronic

Does the filmmaker have to be Jewish? Do the characters have to be Jewish?
Filmmakers do not have
to be Jewish, nor do all the characters have to be Jewish. The goal of the
Festival is to present a wide array of films that reflect the richness of
the Jewish Experience the world over.

I am programming a film festival. Would it be possible for me to borrow screener
tapes from WJFF?
As is the case with
any film festival programmer, WJFF has a primary responsibility to protect
the integrity of a filmmaker's work and to honor all licensing restrictions
that are in place governing the distribution and exhibition of a film. Consequently,
WJFF cannot share its screener tapes with programmers at other festivals,
unless the programmer has specific and explicit permission to receive
the tape in question. This permission must be secured by the requesting
festival directly from the filmmaker, the distributor, or the authorized
