Israel, 2000, 16mm, 24 minutes
In the wake of a rape, a young ultra-orthodox woman awaits the Rabbinical court's decision whether or not her husband must divorce her in accordance with the Jewish law that states "a kohan's (a descendant of a Temple priest) wife who was raped is forbidden to her husband." Directed by an Orthodox woman, Cohen's Wife is a provocative modern-day portrait of a couple torn by religious dogma and familial devotion. A co-production between The Ma'ale School of Communication, Art of Film and Television (most of whose pupils are orthodox Jews) and the secular Sam Spiegel Film and Television School, Jerusalem. Co-sponsored by the Embassy of Israel
